You see plenty of news organizations listing the top stories of the year. The top ten of this and that. Stories that really are not the important things in life. They always remind me of an email that list a bunch of questions that most people can't remember the answers to. Then the next list has questions similar to- who was the teacher who made the biggest impression on you, etc. Truthfully, those are the 'Top Stories' of any persons year. Lots of people will be making New Years Resolutions that they will keep for a couple of weeks. They can't be faulted for the struggle to complete their wishes. New Years Day gives each Christian an opportunity for a fresh new walk with God.
This picture illustrates the amazing verse in Matthew 6:6. 'when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret'.
I love this picture. It is one of those pictures where the glass is either half full or half empty. For me the picture is completely full........ full of God, His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Some of the most revealing insights to myself and my relationship with God and others, have been when I am completely alone with God. It is so fulfilling to open up your heart and soul to receiving what the Lord has for you.
He can give you hope for the future:
Jeremiah 26:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end"
Learning from past mistakes:
Hebrews 12:10-11 "For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: neverthless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby"
Gods timing is perfect:
Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end"
Each New day is special:
Lamentations 3:22-24 "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him"
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. May this New Year be blessed for each of you.

I loved seeing your huge family enjoying their Christmas - how wonderful for your parents to be surrounded by so many loved ones at one time. Hope someone helped them clean up all that wrapping paper!!
Happy New Year to you all.
