GRAND-kids

Grand kids are just that..... Grand. We enjoy them so much. They are like precious jewels. They are to be loved, protected, shared and enjoyed by grandparents like us.

Alex called early Saturday morning to see if we minded that she spent the day with us.

We were asked to 'babysit' with Luke Saturday, while Amanda and Kyle went and had an anniversary dinner. Their anniversary is Monday the 19th of May. They will be celebrating 7 years. Alex came over to spend the day at our house and play with Luke. Luke decided she was the only one who could help him do anything. Alex was deemed his 'pal for the day'

So... Luke and his 'pal for the day' went outside to play golf. Look out Alex, Luke is swinging his golf club! Uh oh... too late. Luke clobbered Alex on the left side of her face with his golf club. Thank goodness she wasn't hurt bad. The contact bruised her face.

Being kind to everyone can have an impact in a way that we may never personally see. It is a trickle down effect and our kindness to someone just may inspire his or her kindness to someone else and on and on. Remember to be kind to someone. It will change your life and someone else's.

Alex's much anticipated, end of Junior year event, was finally here. Her escort for the evening was her boyfriend Zack Sailors. She chose a Yellow Satin gown that crossed in the back. She added silver accessories. Her corsage consisted of yellow and peach roses with purple accents. She had her hair done with a tiara. She made me think of Cinderella. The group of six were chauffeured in a stretch Limo to eat at Applebee's in Huntington. Tom and I went to the Honeywell Center to take my last photos of the evening before they went to the dance. They had an after prom party at the bowling alley. Here are the photos I took of before the prom.

It is always a joy to watch our grandchildren grow and mature. They have added so much to our lives.

Motherhood is the greatest blessing any woman can BE blessed with. Motherhood is a symbol of love, kindness and forgiveness. A mother's touch is the first human touch in a child's life. A mother's love is a never ending love for her children. Being a mother means loving someone more than you will ever love yourself. It brings you pride, joy, a few tears and heartaches. But of all the positions there are in the world, Being a Mother is by far the most rewarding gift that could ever BE Bestowed on a woman.

The first Mother's Day was celebrated in the United States on May 10, 1908 in West Virginia. In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson declared the first National Mother's Day Celebration.

Thursday evening I had the great pleasure and privilege of sharing a Mother's Day Celebration with Amanda, Cassidy, Lauren, Jennifer and my Mother. We celebrated with a banquet served by two guys that we all love very much, Rick and Spencer. The theme for the celebration was 'To Be'. There were flowers and bumble bees everywhere. We delighted in some very good food and some really great desserts. Mmmmm Mmmm Good. Here are a few snapshots of the evening.

Serenade by Sara

Ladies and Gentlemen..... presenting for your enjoyment and entertainment ...

Miss Sara Evans

Jane and I were very excited to see Sara Evans after the great show we recently saw by John Michael Montgomery. We were pleasantly surprised to be entertained, and enjoyed the show for the evening.

Sara has lots of family traveling and working with her. The two backup singers are her sisters Ashley and Linsey. Her older brother Matt plays a guitar. He is standing to the right of the backup singers. He helps Sara write songs also. She brings a down home style to her show. Sara and her sisters started out singing bluegrass music. They gave us a sample of their talent in that arena. They have a beautiful blend. She tries to get the audience involved and keep them anxious for the next part. You can tell she loves to sing.

It was a beautiful day with lots of gorgeous sunshine. Sara's concert was a perfect ending to a wonderful day.

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, can not keep it from themselves

Shippy on a Saturday

Tom and I went to visit friends in Warsaw for a Saturday outing. Tom was going golfing with 'the guys' and 'the girls' were headed to Shippy! I knew the girls would probably shop, but I had no idea when we started out, that the May Festival was scheduled for Saturday. Or that Shippy was to be our destination.

The May Festival is an annual event to celebrate the towns history. There are Road and Trail Runs, Blacksmith demonstrations, storytelling, clogging, baking contest, parade and what sounded like a lawn mower drag race.......LOL

Sharon, Susie and I headed to Shipshewana after making sure the boys were all settled in at the golf course. You know how men are. They always need taken care of. Tom, Mick, Don, Zack, and Tom would make up the group of brave golfers. The wind and chill would test their love for the game. Seems the weather won out.

There were lots and lots of people mingling around Shippy taking in the festivities. We dashed in and out of the shops looking for that one supreme item we just couldn't live without. We were a little distracted by something called hunger. We needed that one thing every woman needs at some point in her life. CHOCOLATE ! After finishing one more area of the town, the chocolate store was the place to be. We also tried to coordinate our time with the courageous 'goofers' on the course.

Our final destination for the day was a little place called Stacey's. I don't know when I have had a better piece of chicken. It was delicious. Janet joined the rest of the group for great food and wonderful time of enjoying friendship. Even though the day ended with chilly rain and more wind, it was a fantastic day.

One thing that was fun to see were the famers plowing their fields and of course the laundry hanging from the lines. Dad........dont trade Mother off yet !
